The NGR Project

In January 2014, the Queensland Government announced the award of the NGR contract to the Bombardier NGR Consortium (now Alstom Transport Australia) for the delivery of the New Generation Rollingstock project.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is the lead Queensland Government agency for the delivery of the project.

Qtectic is responsible for the delivery of the NGR train fleet and for the maintenance of the fleet for 30 years.

Bombardier Transportation (now Alstom Transport Australia) and its joint venture partner ITOCHU are the principal contractors to Qtectic for the design, construction, delivery and maintenance of the NGR fleet and the maintenance. Alstom will be actively involved in the delivery of all core Project Activities.

Queensland Rail is the nominated operator of the NGR fleet.

Laing O’Rourke has been appointed as the principal contractor for the design and construction of the maintenance centre at Wulkuraka
